Redundancy and Unfair Dismissal Awards

Statutory Redundancy Pay: Employees with over two years service are entitled to a statutory redundancy payment if they are made redundant. The calculation is based on a week’s pay x full years work (with a multiplier of 1.5 for years worked over the age of 41), but that is subject to a statutory cap. For dismissals occurring after 6 April 2022, a maximum week’s gross pay will increase to £571 per week (up from £544 pw). For more details, see our redundancy pay calculator.

Compensatory Award for Unfair Dismissal: From 6 April 2022, the maximum compensatory award (including financial losses etc) will increase to the lesser of 52 weeks gross pay or £93,878 (previously £89,493)

Basic Award for Unfair Dismissal: The basic award is calculated based on the same basis as statutory redundancy payments. Again the cap on a weeks pay will increase to £571 gross per week (up from £544 pw) from 6 April 2022.

The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2022 will apply to employment ending after 6 April 2022
